“Plant” a seed of empowerment in our spring campaign….
From now until Easter, we are raising money to support all of the services we provide our community. A flower needs more than just water to thrive; it needs sunlight and good soil too. Our pantry guests come to us for food, but we provide far more - life coaching, English-language classes, health workshops, and more - addressing additional challenges that may impact their food security. Help us “Grow our Garden” and plant a virtual flower with a donation today!
At Detroit Friendship House, we believe in a holistic approach to food security. It’s not just about providing food—it’s about enhancing quality of life, promoting long-term wellness, and equipping families with tools for healthier futures.
Every month, we serve hundreds of families with dignity, respect, and compassion. By providing access to both essential food and nutritional guidance, we’re building a stronger, healthier community one meal at a time.
Learn more about our SWAP food-ranking system
Our SWAP system prioritizes nutrition by using a simple, color-coded ranking to highlight healthier options. This approach helps our clients make informed choices that support their well-being. Foods are rated based on sodium, sugar, and saturated fat content, empowering individuals and families to choose items that align with a balanced diet.
